London Underground Depot Protection Master (DPM)

Duration:  2 Shifts

Location: Harrow

Training Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday  

1.1        Sponsorship:

Bridgen Training Services only supply training to companies detailed in “The Principle Contractor List” (provided to all training providers) sub contractors can also sponsor their employees for training when introduced in writing by a principle contractor.

1.2        Course Duration:

2 Shifts

1.3        Joining Instructions           

Bridgen Training Services supply full joining instructions and location map in advance to all sponsored trainees.

1.4        English Default Language:

Candidates requiring Track Safety Training must be able to speak and understand oral, written English and understand safety instructions.

1.5        Acceptable Forms of Identification:

Current London Underground Entry Permit, Fire and/or Track Safety Training Certification are not sufficient Proof of Identification and/or National Insurance Number.

The trainee must bring Official and original document confirming identity

British Citizen

A 10 year Passport

Proof of Address

Or any Photo Identification and two of the following

British Driving Licence

P45

Birth Certificate issued within six weeks of birth.

Credit Card with three statements and proof of signature

Proof of residence, Council Tax, or recent utility bill

EEA Nationals (European Economic Area)

Full EEA Passport

National Identity Card

Proof of Address whilst in the UK (utility bill)

Other Nationals

Full Passport

A UK Home office Document Confirming the individuals UK Immigration status and Permission to work in the United Kingdom

Proof of Address whilst in the UK (utility bill)

1.6        National Insurance Number (NI):

Proof of NI Number can be provided by an official Department of Social Security (DSS) document, P45, P46, P60, Company Identification Card, CIS card, Current Pay Slip, etc.

Temporary National Insurance (NI) Numbers are not acceptable and the trainee must produce Official and original documentation showing their National Insurance Number prior to attending the relevant training course.

1.7        Proof of Employment:

Completed original London Underground Operational Training: Course Joining and Eligibility Arrangements - Manager Declaration BTS/F/UTRN/021

1.8        Proof of Address:

Photo Driving Licence, utility bill, bank statement, etc...

1.9        Photographs:

The trainee must bring 2 NEW recent passport size photographs (without headwear) endorsed on the rear by the responsible employer manager.

1.10      Working Hours – Rest Period:

Candidates requiring Track Safety Training (TST), Fire Training and/or Entry Permit Training/Certification must not work for a minimum of 11 hours preceding the start and for a minimum of 11 hours after completing any training course.

1.11      Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

The trainee must bring their own Sturdy footwear or Safety Boots

A Orange High Visibility Vest is available on loan (if required) for the practical element of the training course

1.12      Existing Certification:

The trainee must be in possession of a valid in date:

Safety Induction (Suppliers) – Entry Permit

Fire Core and Fire Engineering Certificate

Track Safety Certificate (TST) endorsed to a minimum Depot Competent Person

If the Track accustomed certificate is more than 14 calendar days out of date the trainee must first attend the appropriate full training course. If the Fire Safety Certificate is out of date the trainee must first attend the appropriate training course.

1.13      Managers Declaration

Completed original London Underground Operational Training: Course Joining and Eligibility Arrangements - Manager Declaration BTS/F/UTRN/021

1.14      Track Safety Training – Documents

The trainee must bring their copy of the Track Accustomed Person handbook OSP001

NOTE:

It is strongly recommended that the trainee is provided with a copy of the Track Accustomed Person handbook OSP001 as prior reading well in advance of attending the Protection Master Engineering Hours Course.

The Trainer will supply each trainee with a copy of the Track Accustomed Person handbook OSP001 if not in possession of one during the Track Accustomed Course, for their retention.

The Trainer will provide all necessary documentation for trainees, and equipment for practical exercises.

1.15      Completed Medical Forms

The trainee must bring their original current in date copy of Medical form TSW 028 – (Endorsed to minimum Protection Master Level) stamped by the medical assessor.

The trainee must bring their original current copy of Drugs and Alcohol Medical Screening Programme (DAMSP) endorsed with current Employers Company Name (if held)

The trainee must bring their original current copy (signed by manager) of Medical form TSW 024

(TSW024 is only required if their Medical Certificate is not in the name of current employer and/or is dated more than 3 months prior to the course)

If wearing contact lenses, the trainee must also bring spectacles (plus a spare pair) as the Trainer will carry out a practical screening exercise before allowing trainees onto the track.

1.16      Pre-course Evaluation:

Track Accustomed Person multiple choice assessment, minimum pass mark 80%.

Note:

Failure to achieve the required standard will result in all the trainee’s Track Safety Training (TST) certification to be withdrawn and the trainee will not be allowed to continue on the Protection Master Engineering Hours (PMTH) course.

The Trainer will carry out a practical screening exercise before allowing trainees onto the track.

1.17      Training Method:

Formal tuition with the use of classroom discussion, visual aids and new technology as appropriate to achieving the learning objectives.

Practical on-site exercises, in the London Underground track environment, will form a part of the training and assessment.

A visit to a Track Access Control Centre whilst the Track Access Controllers are on duty will be included as part of the course.

1.18      Transportation:

Transport is provided to/from the Training Centre and the Track Environment for Practical on-site exercises

1.19      Evaluation:

1. Correct or incorrect, multiple choice and written assessments with a minimum pass mark 80%.

2. Written assessment on interpretation of publications for the application of Line Clear/Line Safe procedures (100% pass mark).

3. Practical assessments for Booking on/Booking off with the Track Access Controller.

4. Observed assessment, at track locations, of trainee’s practical application of knowledge gained.

On occasions, inclement weather causes the postponement of the on-site exercise which is an integral part of the course. Trainees thus affected will have fourteen days (14 days) from the date of the initial training to complete the on-site exercise. Changes to Practical on-site exercises time, date and location to be advised during the Track Accustomed Person Course by the Trainer

1.20      Certification:

Successful trainees will be issued with a Track Safety Training (TST) Certificate Endorsed Depot Protection Master. – valid for 2 years
